The Black-spotted Barbet (Capito niger) is a species of bird in the Capitonidae family. It is found in E Colombia, E Peru, Brazil, the Guianas, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical swamps, and heavily degraded former forest.
