Its genus, Pachyramphus, has traditionally been placed in Cotingidae or Tyrannidae, but evidence strongly suggest it is better placed in Tityridae [1]. It is found in Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua.
